In this 45 minute yin yoga practice we will focus on our lymphatic system to help our immune system. Do you know about the lymphatic system? It’s an amazing drainage system within the body that works as the first shield of defense against disease. It’s composed of a network of nodes and vessels that filter and move lymph fluid, which contains antibodies. It removes the bad bacteria and keeps all the good stuff.

With this yin sequence we are focusing on moving the lymph through the body.

Meta Bhavana is a traditional key foundational Buddhist practice extending compassion and goodwill to all beings.

This class focuses on the core and supporting muscle groups. Our core spans the whole circumference of our trunk and combines our back muscles, abdominals (front), and obliques (sides). The glutes and lats are also important supporting muscle groups. You can think of your core as a cylinder of strength and stability. Building core strength is great for injury prevention and can be good medicine for many who suffer discomfort in the low back.

A quick warm-up to lengthen the spine is followed by sun salutations, lunges, and standing poses. Keep a light heart as we use the front and back of our mat, play with a couple balances, and enjoy a little glute release at the end.

The artfulness of this practice is being able to stand your ground with a soft and open heart with an inner experience of freedom.

A practice to access your inner wisdom & guidance. Ask the part of you that always knows what to do and trust the answers will come.

Sit, breathe and feel your body. Notice the shift with just 5 minutes of conscious breathing. Then enjoy a short seated movement practice & alternate nostril breathing to prepare you for Yoga Nidra.

Then enjoy a half hour Yoga Nidra practice that focus’ on complete loving acceptance of all that you are and finding the answer within.

Flow, invert, restore sequence. Within this beautiful flow I’ll put a little more emphasis on inversions – As we become accustomed to reacting to our world in a predictable way, inversions allow us to view life from a new angle.

Inviting a sense of playfulness reminds us that our practice can also be a playful and light-hearted time. This can be refreshing to us as adults.

THURSDAY HATHA BASICS WITH KELLY | 1hr | 23rd April

“Keep hanging out with you until you feel like you again”. The faculty of awareness has two functions – one is entanglement in the fluctuations of the mind (thoughts, external stimulation etc.) and the other is to be immersed in the experience of Self. This class focus’ on the later and is a completely restorative practice designed to be relaxing yet energisinga and includes a practice of prep for pinchamayurasana.

This physical alignment focus for this class is that of the Anusara shoulder loop, which builds strength in the back body and opens the chest whilst lengthening the lateral lengths of the torso. Sarah’s class this week is a delicious flow. The class offers a deep cleanse of the body’s cells through twisting poses, which also stretch and open across the chest and shoulders. Combined with hip opening poses which open and release tension from the hips, and in the holding of these poses an opportunity to reflect, contemplate and accept arises.

Dive deep into present moment awareness with gentle, flowing movements and longer-held postures in unison with the breath. In this class we will be exploring Patanjali’s concept of ‘Tapas’, or self-discipline, as a means of burning away physical, mental and emotional ‘impurities’.

We use poses that build Apana Vayu – the downward moving energy that allows us to occupy our physical space, ground and choose to find pleasure in our own harmonious song.
